Aanii, Boozhoo, my name is Doran Ritchie, Bear Clan, I’m a proud member of Saugeen First Nation. I follow the ways our ancestors and traditional teachings and educated in western science. I started my career in 2005 working for Parks Canada and Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. During past 7 years, I’ve been working for Saugeen Ojibway Nation as Resources and Infrastructure Manager. Our mission is to provide expertise for cultural/environmental matters that affect the interests of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation and assist the Chiefs and Councils of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation in asserting First Nation jurisdiction over the environment of the Traditional Territory. My spare time is spent hunting fishing and being on the land.
Doran has a diverse background working with Federal, Provincial, Environmental Groups, Other First Nations, Parks Canada, Archeology, Resource Managers, Law Enforcement. Doran uses his past experiences and how sovereignty and the advancement of rights can be achieved.
